Gambling Addiction In Bad Economic Times

economybad

In these harsh economic times, a few hours of gambling may seem like a fun escape. A few hours in a room

filled with bells, flashing lights, and a chance to win some cash does not sound so bad, right?

Well it may be okay for some people who are recreational gamblers and have a few extra dollars to spare.

However, for those of you who have a compulsive gambling addiction and gamble more frequently, you

better start thinking twice about what you are doing.

In harsh economic times, gambling addiction becomes an even more dangerous habit. With layoffs happening

on a daily basis, people who have a gambling problem have a lot more to worry about.

In addition, with 401 K values cut in half, and home values dropping daily, the majority of people now

have a much lower net worth.

Many people with a gambling problem are in extreme debt. In addition, many people with a gambling

addiction have maxed out their credit cards as well as their savings and have nothing to fall back on in

case of a job loss or a job loss of a spouse.

Combine this with a possible job loss, and things can get very ugly and extremely scary. Having no

financial cushion can provide a double whammy for those with a gambling addiction and can create a very

desperate financial situation.

Because we are in such uncertain economic times, those with a compulsive gambling problem need to

rethink their escape from reality and find other forms of recreation and fun.

I also want to state that it is easy for the recreational gambler to become a gambling addict because of

the addictive nature of gambling, especially slots and pokies gambling.

In this day in age, our dire economic situation makes it even more crucial that those with a gambling

addiction or gambling problem help themselves to get better both emotionally and financially.

Nobody should be left with extreme gambling debt partnered with a job loss. This is not a good place to

be for anybody.

If you are in this situation, learn to stop gambling now, and start on the road to a better life.
