When One Steals To Support A Gambling Addiction

A high ranking official who used to be an addictions counselor in Canada was accused of stealing several hundreds of thousands of dollars to support his gambling addiction.

This is just another story of stealing to support a gambling addiction which seems to be in the news worldwide on a daily basis. The sad part is that the amounts stolen to support the gambling addiction are huge amounts of money which hurt all parties involved tremendously.

The moral of this story is that gambling addiction or a severe gambling problem can change a persons’ values to the point of stealing and hurting others to support the habit.

Gambling and stealing seem to work hand in hand, especially when the addiction progresses to such a level of personal deterioration. The pain that the gambler causes family and others is very strong, but is truly preventable if the gambler gets help for his or her problem.

Stealing from organizations, like the individual in the story can cause a lot of pain and suffering, as well as jail time for the gambler.

It is important to stop gambling addiction in its’ tracks before things get this far. There is help for a gambling addiction.

Are There Any Solutions For Compulsive Gambling? Here Are Three

Solutions for compulsive gambling are not easy to find. Compulsive gambling and gambling addiction is a complex problem that does not have any easy solutions

Many people gamble compulsively for years with horrible consequences including loss of financial security, loss of home, loss of family, and loss of physical and psychological health.

So what is the answer when you have a gambling addiction? What is the answer when a loved one cannot stop gambling even though they know it is affecting their life in horrible ways?

Here are three solutions for compulsive gambling that may be very helpful. These are only three, however, it is hoped that these can be helpful for the compulsive gambler and or their family member.

1. Seek a counselor for gambling addiction. There are many excellent gambling addiction counselors who can help you with your gambling problem. Talking about the causes of the problem and how to stop can be helped by someone who is trained in the area of addictions. You can create a plan to help you stop gambling and move on with your life in a healthy way.

2. Visit Gamblers Anonymous or even your local chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous (open meetings). You will surround yourself with people suffering from addiction who are looking for recovery and a way to a better life. Many people in these rooms just stopped their addiction, or may still be active. There are many people, however, who have years of recovery and can truly be an inspiration for you to stop gambling and live a better life.

3. There is an excellent self-help course that I have used myself which is called “Life Beyond Gambling“. This is an excellent self-help course that is truly comprehensive which can lead you on the road to stop gambling. This gambling addiction course is something that can lead you on the right path to a gambling free life.

It is hoped that these solutions for compulsive gambling were helpful to you, as there are many other solutions besides this. These compulsive gambling solutions are just a tiny part of the overall picture of a very complex, serious, and deadly addiction.

If you or a loved one has a gambling addiction, stop gambling now. You will truly get your life back if you do.

Gambling Debt Can Really Hurt The Gambler

Gambling debt can really hurt. Gambling debt is the biggest fallout from a gambling addiction or a severe gambling problem. The fallout from this gambling debt can take years to resolve and may result in personal bankruptcy, massive credit card debt, and foreclosures as well.

Gambling debts can happen fairly fast, especially if you are a casino or slot machine player. If you are a gambler, you can lose hundreds of dollars in one night to gambling. Many have lost thousands in one night by just going to their ATM  machine and constantly withdrawing money. The fact that ATM machines are available right next to slot machines in a casino is truly an atrocity. The ease of access to personal credit can fuel a gamblers’ addiction tremendously.

Gambling debt or debts are quite stressful for the recovering gambler because they are there long past when the addiction stops. This is quite different than the other addictions or drug, alcohol, or food addiction.

It is important to remember that you can get help for your gambling debts by seeing a non profit credit counselor. Make sure that you do not pay any money upfront. You can even call the National Council On Compulsive Gambling or find out what type of non-profit organizations are available in your country.

Remember that gambling addiction can harm your life in many ways, but that the gambling debt can linger around for a long time if you do not stop gambling and begin to put back the pieces of your life back together.

Gambling Addiction: You Will Gamble Away Your Future If You Do Not Stop Gambling

Gambling addiction is a horrible disease. Many do not call gambling addiction a disease because it sounds like a medical condition or something that is uncontrollable.

The word disease actually means “to be dis at ease” with a certain ailment or condition. Calling gambling addiction a disease just means that a person is dis at ease with gambling.

This does not mean that the gambler has no personal responsibility over his or her problem. A person with a gambling problem or compulsive gambling problem  has to  take personal responsibility to stop gambling, or else every aspect of life can be ruined as he or she knows it.

Gambling problems destroy lives and the lives of close family members as well.

Gambling addiction is a silent addiction, and this addiction can go on in a person long before anybody close to the gambler really knows about it.

The addiction of gambling is a silent one, and cannot be easily detected by friends or family of the gambling addict.

So why does the gambling addict throw away his or her future because of a gambling addiction? How does this actually happen, and why?

  • A gambling addiction is a progressive disease, and tends to get worse over time. Usually what happens is that the gambler builds a tolerance to the bet, and it requires a much higher wager over time to establish the same type of “gamblers high”. You see, a gambling addict does not really gamble to win. A gambling addict gambles to get high, and continue playing as long as possible. It is not about the win, but the means to the win. Gambling addiction is a means in itself, and not a means to an end. The gambling addict wants to stay in action as long as possible.
  • Because bets tend to increase over time, and the amount of time the gambler plays in the casino, hangs at the track, or plays poker or slots online, the losses pile up very fast and easy.
  • Gambling debts, payday advances failure to pay bills on time or at all start to become the norm now for the gambling addiction.
  • Financial problems become intertwined with emotional problems including stress, lack of sleep, poor eating habits, anxiety, and depression.
  • School and work can be missed as the deterioration continues as the disease of gambling addiction continues to run its’ course.
  • Some gamblers resort to stealing and embezzling and risk going to jail because they are unable to stop gambling.
  • Loss of family, loss of social life and friends all become commonplace for the gambling addict as things become worse and worse over time.
  • Gambling addiction and compulsive gambling can become all consuming and can take over every area of the person’s life.

These are just a few things to consider if you or someone you know has a gambling problem. The best thing for the gambler to do is to stop gambling, and to get help immediately.

Gambling addiction truly has the highest suicide rate of all addictions, which makes it even more important to stop gambling and to get help.

Problem gambling and compulsive gambling kill and ruin lives very rapidly. It is important that you understand the seriousness of the disease of gambling.

Gambling addiction and the act of gambling compulsively is a complete waste of money and a complete waste of time. Think about how hard you work for your money, and think about how much of that money your throw out and waste with gambling.

Gambling addiction is self-destruction that will rob you of your personal wealth, your self-esteem, your friends, and everything that you hold sacred to you.

Your gambling problem can pretty much ruin your life overall, and it is a complete and utter waste of money.

When you truly sit back and think about how many hours you work each week and add up how much you make weekly, and then monthly,  and then you think about how much of this you throw out in gambling, you will be totally shocked.

Many of you do not realize how much money is thrown out gambling whether it be slot machine gambling addiction, online gambling, horse racing, scratch off tickets, sports betting, or the ever popular poker games.

Gambling addiction can ruin your life in many ways, but the financial destruction and gambling debt that a severe gambling problem can cause is truly enormous.

Gambling Addiction Can Create Debts That Can Effect Your Overall Life

gamblers debt

Gambling addiction can create gambling debt that is powerful and extreme and that can effect your overall life. For a gambling addiction to continue it requires constant use of money as a tool to establish the behavior.

Without money, you cannot gamble, and you cannot  continue gambling without a constant source of money.

Once you go into gamblers debt, it becomes a very stressful situation that can truly effect your overall life. I have met people that are in debt up to 100,000 from gambling. This is a crazy amount of debt because the gambler has nothing to show for this. It is money that is literally flushed down the toilet bowl and just a whole lot of credit card debt to show for it

It is very easy for a problem gambler to go into an incredible amount of debt in a very fast period of time. This gamblers debt can create tremendous stress on the gambler and his or her family

Online gambling can create gamblers debt because it is so easy to fall into debt from online gambling since all you do is play from your own computer and use yor credit card.

The gambling debt that can be incurred because of this is huge, and can create a horrible problem for addicted gambler which includes terrible financial stress that results in physical stress. This stress can also cause tremendous psychological and emotional pain resulting in both severe depression and anxiety as well as suicidal thoughts.

So if you think about one behavioral addiction that can effect your overall life in many ways, gambling truly wins the award.

It is best to get rid of gambling debts through a non-profit counseling group that can help to get your gamblers debt in order, rather than a for profit debt consolidation agency which can sometimes make things worse.

Gambling debt from gambling addiction can only stop when you stop gambling and get help as soon as possible.
