Stop Gambling And Get Help For A Gambling Addiction

Senior citizens can easily develop a gambling addiction for many reasons. When this happens, gambling addiction consequences can be huge, because senior citizens are usually on a fixed income and only have limited funds. This can contribute to gambling debts that can never be recovered for the senior gambling addict.

Why do senior citizens become vulnerable to developing a gambling addiction later in life? There are a few reasons for this which I will state below.

1. Senior citizens are usually retired and they have much more time on their hands to go out and gamble.
2. Senior citizens suffer a lot of losses in  life which may contribute to depression-related grief. Many senior citizens gamble to cope with their depression and can then develop a gambling addiction.
3. There are many organized trips in senior communities that go to local gambling casinos which are pretty much available in every state. These trips are given often, and can contribute to a senior citizen developing a gambling problem.
4. Many senior citizens live alone and can become very lonely and socially isolated. When they go to a gambling casino, it alleviates this loneliness, even if it is just for a little while.
5. Senior citizens may also be under stimulated, and the casino environment, with all of the bells and whistles, and vivid colors can provide this stimulation.
6. Seniors are vulnerable to a gambling addiction because the entertainment value that gambling may have had at the beginning can turn into a full fledge addiction.

These are just a few reasons why senior citizens can develop a gambling problem or a full blown gambling addiction. It is a very dire situation, and seems to be getting worse due to the availability of casinos in almost every U.S State and in all parts of the world.

The very disturbing part of this is that many senior citizens do not seek help for their gambling addiction problem. They then lose everything by going into gambling debt and putting themselves in a very bad, very dire financial and emotional situation.
